We’re honored to share that Music Workshop was recently featured in the Becker Bulletin, the newsletter of Becker Capital Management, a Portland-based investment firm celebrating 50 years in business. In their Community Highlight, Becker Capital spotlighted the work we do to bring free music education to classrooms around the world – and asked a question we love answering: how does a nonprofit with just four employees reach more than 8 million students across all 50 states and 122 countries, all completely free of charge?
The piece traces our story back to our founding in 2012, born out of the growing decline of school music programs, and highlights what continues to drive us today: the belief that music is more than an art form – it’s a powerful tool for learning, creativity, emotional well-being, and human connection. Becker Capital also noted that nearly 65% of the schools we serve are Title I schools, meaning our work reaches students who often have the fewest resources and opportunities.
It means a great deal to us when organizations outside the education space recognize the impact of what we do. Becker Capital called our approach “innovative” and “scalable,” and we couldn’t agree more — it’s the only way a small team like ours can create this kind of reach.
We’re grateful to Becker Capital for shining a light on our mission, and we invite you to read the full spotlight. While you’re at it, don’t miss our video about Music Workshop, where you can see this work come to life in classrooms around the world.
Thank you for being part of this story with us.
