We Just Hit 20,000 Schools
Today, we’re celebrating a milestone worth singing about: Music Workshop is now in 20,000 schools around the world.
Twenty thousand schools means twenty thousand music classrooms that didn’t have to choose between a great curriculum and a tight budget. It means twenty thousand teachers who can walk in and teach a standards-aligned, culturally responsive music lesson without spending a dime or hunting down materials on their own time. That’s the whole point of what we do – take the cost and the guesswork out of music education, so teachers can just teach.
We started with a simple belief: every child deserves access to quality music education, no matter their school’s budget or zip code. A staff of four and a lot of heart later, that belief has carried us into all 50 states and more than 120 countries, reaching millions of students.
But the number that matters most isn’t the school count – it’s what happens inside those classrooms. It’s a third grader hearing a taiko drum for the first time. It’s a teacher with no music background finally having a lesson plan they can trust. It’s a district that couldn’t afford a music specialist finding another way to make sure music still happens.
This milestone belongs to the teachers who brought Music Workshop into their classrooms, the donors who make every free lesson possible, and the volunteers and partners who’ve helped us grow one school at a time. Thank you for being part of it.
And we’re not slowing down. Our commitment is to keep this fully free, keep building lessons that reflect the students who use them, and keep making sure no teacher ever has to choose between their budget and their curriculum.
